When organizing a camp for adults, it’s important to have several fun camping games on hand. These icebreakers are perfect not only to get to know people but also make the whole camping experience so much fun!
Camping games for adults can be the same as those for kids but you can change the rules a bit to suit the age group better. Remember there’s more to the usual board games, scavenger hunt, or kick-ball when camping.
Before starting these games for adults, make sure you have all the items you may need for the game. A first aid kit may also come in handy just in case things go wrong.
- Charades – This game never goes out of style – ever! It has different versions but basically it involves guessing what your team mate has acted out. People are divided into groups and agree on a theme. A toss coin will determine who goes first. There is a given time for each guess and this can be a very funny game indeed. Can you imagine your husband mimicking a snake?
- Camping drinking games – A good example is the Name Game, each camper will take turns in naming a famous person, whose name started with the first letter of the surname of the previous name. A wrong answer, no answer or repeat will require the player to drink. Many a people have gone home with a hangover with these camping drinking games.
- Honey if you love me… – The groups forms a circle with one person in the middle. The center person will try to make someone from the outer circle smile or laugh by saying “Honey, if you love me, you’ll smile”. Campers on the outer circle will take turns in responding and saying “Honey, I love you but I just can’t smile”. They must be able to do this without smiling or laughing. Meanwhile, the center person can do different things to get the outer person to smile, and if she/he does smile, they become the center person.
- Things That Go Bump in the Night – You will need at least four people for this game, but the more the merrier the game will be! This game needs to be played at night, with all your camping lanterns turned off. Additionally, you will also need a flashlight. One camper is the curator, another is a visitor, while the rest are statues. The curator holds the flashlight, and together with the other camper, begins to walk around. Statues can move in the dark without getting caught. They must not be seen moving, heard bumping into something, or talks. Once he gets caught, he will become a visitor and join the curator in catching the remaining statues.
- Treasure Hunting – One helpful tool you can bring with you on camp in a GPS unit; however, you can use this same tool in whipping up some fun around the camp site. This has become so popular lately that websites offering clues have popped over the web. Try your hand at modern day treasure hunting and bring those pirates to shame.
The type of game you can play at camp largely depends on the environment, camping terrain, camp location (lakeside campground, for instance), and even the weather. All these considerations can have a hand as to which games for adults are applicable to your trip. One thing is for sure though, using icebreakers and playing games are going to make your trip unforgettable. Camp games are usually one of the best family camping activities.
Who says fun camping games are just for kids? Being all grown up shouldn’t stop you from having fun at camp and bring out that kid in you again. So go out and play!
